Abstract: Embryonic stem (ES) cells are able to self-renew and differentiate into all kinds of human cells. Due to ( }4 g2 n( E3 N3 N. otheir unique properties, ES cells are used in diverse fields of biological research,particular in developmental+ d+ O3 X6 f0 n0 d3 k) M* J+ Y
biology. Meanwhile, their potential medical application become a research hot-spot worldwidly. Since preimplantation , P8 g& C2 U% X1 _9 {$ N# ceggs are sources to generate ES cells, the use of embryonic stem cells is therefore controversial. : |; u/ e7 ~; N9 d' @: X6 C0 U* _2 nThis review will outline characterization of ES cells, regulation of self-renewal, and the applications of the cell !
