Hiring more employees makes the company cost money on providing training to the new staff . Also, the company must offer health ensurance, office space and computers to the new staff. That’s absolutely a high cost. However, the reading passage indicates that the shotened week would increase company profits. : G {5 M% L- Z1 }% @% ANext, the professor argues that runnig a 4-day workweek does not mean more working opportunities. That the companies will have other options rather than hiring more employees to accomplish the work. They may force the employees to work over time to achieve their goal. What’s worse, they will raise their expectations on the staff, which means that they want to let the staff finish their 5-day-work in 4 days. In this way, no additional jobs could be created and current jobs would be more unsatisfactory.
