Thenewwork,ledbyHuiZhenShengofShanghaiSecondMedicalUniversity,appearsinthelatestissueofCellResearchandwashighlightedinanewsreportinthejournalNature.CellResearchisapeer-reviewed--iflittle-knownintheUnitedStates--bimonthlyscientificjournalaffiliatedwiththeShanghaiInstituteofCellBiologyandtheChineseAcademyofSciences.Someresearchersyesterdaysaidtheywerefrustratedbythelackofdetailsinthepaper.: r' a5 j7 s- ?6 C; H

Becausehumaneggcellsaredifficultandcostlytoretrievefromwomen'sovaries--andbecausehumaneggretrievalposesriskstothedonors--scientistshavebeenwantingtoknowwhetheranimaleggsmayserveaswell.AmajorquestionhasbeenwhethertheremnantsofmitochondrialDNAthattypicallyremaininananimaleggwouldbecompatiblewiththenuclearDNAcontributedbythehumancell.
