(EN) Differentiation of large volumes of embryonic stem cells or artificial pluripotent stem cells can be easily induced by the following method. Using a substrate surface wherein there is a cell nonadhesive region enclosing a cell adhesive region, (1) cells are caused to adhere to the cell adhesive region on the substrate surface under a differentiation-inducing medium, (2) then the cells are propagated on the cell adhesive surface until confluency is reached, (3) culture is continued further such that the cells form three-dimensional layers from the boundary with the cell nonadhesive region enclosing the cell adhesive region, and (4) the multiple layered portions that have formed inside the cell adhesive region are allowed to eventually merge such that the entire cell adhesive region creates a thick cell aggregate.: ~1 c' n% t! z, r& G$ ]/ Q& e1 T
