On pp. 100–109 of this issue, Ahlqvist et al. show that subtle ROS/redox changes, induced by mtDNA mutagenesis, modulate SSC function and contribute to premature aging-related phenotypes. The cover image is a cultured mouse neural stem cell sphere covered by a network of differentiated neurons (green neuronal Tuj1 staining). Nuclei are in blue.
