On the cover: In this issue of Cell, Tachibana et al. (pp. 285–295) assess the developmental potential of rhesus macaque pluripotent and totipotent stem cells by chimera assay. They find that pluripotent embryonic stem cells and cells from isolated inner cell masses do not contribute to chimeras. Rather, aggregation of totipotent early embryos was required.
