On the cover: A coronal section of a male torso with internal organs and tissues represented by quilling, a technique in which the gilded edges of old books and narrow strips of paper, in this case Japanese mulberry paper, are rolled and shaped. The artwork displayed is by Lisa Nilsson (http://lisanilssonart.com) and was photographed by John Polak. The intricacy of the artistry and the complex systems that it depicts evoke the delicate interdependencies of human biology that go awry in disease states.
