as the fastest animal on land, with a reported top speed of 29 metres per 8 Z. N# S5 ~( X4 v
second. However, few precise measurements have been made and only rarely have , K: w2 i O2 j$ |: z

team from the Royal Veterinary College, UK, working with the Botswana Predator

& _9 V4 h0 A- M" Binertial measurement units to capture the locomotor dynamics of cheetahs hunting : a9 D1 e) `6 Q# t1 f" q% F2 P
in the wild. The 0 e# b6 h5 k% @! ~% o
top speed observed was 25.9 metres per second (93 kilometres per hour). Most L2 q6 [9 r+ K9 Q
hunts involved only moderate speeds, their success relying on a combination of t+ q' s, i! A; Z% ~1 N
