Actually in my laboratory, we are using the cord blood collected within 24 hours. The cord blood is kept at 4C in the refrigerator after collection and works quite fine. f; A | D5 ^7 G
Since CD34+ cells obtained from 1 donor is not much, we usually pool the cells from different donors together after using lymphoprep to deplet polynuclear cells.
. B% K& q1 S0 ^: E& B# w1 LIt is very common to freeze cord blood cells for storage by cryopreservation, as always be mentioned in the publication. However, for myself, I will use fresh cells for doing functional assays, because usually I will have higher yield after sorting |
