Pesticides associated togenetically modified foods (PAGMF), are engineered to tolerate herbicides such as
5 }0 h/ Y4 y9 ~6 S% Sglyphosate (GLYP) and gluphosinate (GLUF) or insecticides such as the bacterial toxin bacillusthuringiensis (Bt).4 D9 U" |! Y: ?, e- k2 P2 x
The aim of this study was to evaluate the correlation between maternal and fetal exposure, and) G/ p% h, U( s; H. G
to determine exposure levels of GLYP and its metabolite amino methyl phosphoric acid(AMPA), GLUF
' r: R) t4 a, M- Uand its metabolite 3-methyl phosphinicopropionic acid(3-MPPA) and Cry1 Abprotein (aBttoxin) in East-
* l. b T" T6 Sern Townships of Quebec, Canada. Blood of thirty pregnant women (PW) and thirty-nine nonpregnant; q+ ?+ A/ [8 z7 }! S( a
women (NPW) were studied. Serum GLYP and GLUF were detected in NPW and not detected in PW.
I+ M1 f. a x+ L+ S1 n; w) j7 KSerum 3-MPPA and CryAb1 toxin were detected in PW, their fetuses and NPW. This is the first study to# Q" q( W x9 u1 r
reveal the presence of circulating PAGMF in women with and without pregnancy, paving the way for a* ^4 P) o' V6 m( o/ T: @7 ~
new field in reproductive toxicology including nutrition and utero-placental toxicities.
