The potential for stem cells in bone marrow (BM) to differentiate
- o) t& u/ k( R, E. pinto hepatocytes and intestinal cells was recently confirmed5 [( } T+ X) i9 x7 E
through detection of Y chromosome-containing cells in1 t+ ^8 l' r0 x- L
samples from female recipients of BM cells (BMCs) from male
% s8 b2 u$ w+ L% y2 ], q4 E9 Pdonors [1–3]. BMC transplantation has been performed to treat
* ^7 S2 j3 c, `hematological diseases, and several clinical studies have applied3 N+ K3 W1 e" @3 c( V" S, p7 X+ X
BMC injection to induce regeneration of myocardium and blood
: |* {) S0 B( Uvessels [4]. Taken together, these findings suggest that BMCs4 b$ p9 J/ { ?# J0 |1 D, y) f
are effective sources for regenerative liver therapy. |
