Finally, allogeneic limbal stem cells commenced to treat bilateral limbal epithelial stem cell deficient ( LSCD ) patients (though in its prephase clinic trial), I believe that this "revolutionary" idealization will be utilized by Chinese Scientists in the recent future, and institutions dedicating to this promising field will spring out faster than any other country, maybe in Xi'an, Tianjin or Qingdao.

# ], j/ \1 c. q& tAlthough, as mentioned above in the news, curable therapies for unilateral or sectorial LSCD such like autograft and cultured autologous limbal epithelial stem cell transplantations have been clinically engrafted to retrieve optical perception of the suffering patients, the successfulness was not that much, with only two papers published sparsely in American Journal of Ophthalmology and New England Journal of Medicine in 1997 and 2010, respectively, announcing that 71% patients regained transparent corneal after repeated transplantations, in spite of the conspicuous concern that separation procedures of grafts or cells may jeopardize the integrity and vision clarity of the contralateral healthy eye, let alone the stringent criterion that p63 positive cells in the amnion-based culture system must transcend 3% to generate a functional engraftation.

The truth is, the difficulty of allogeneic limbal stem cell transplantation is far beyond that of the autografts with regard to source of cells, system of culture and incubation, control of immune rejection, you name it. So, in my words, allografts transplantation is only a concept that has not achieved any decent success in any animal models, how can it enter phase I clinic trial? $ l; `7 j8 } U( T! @, K
