In this issue, Gilliam et al. (pp. 1029–1041) present a three-dimensional view of the structures associated with the connecting cilium from rod photoreceptor neurons, as well as the alterations in them that result from loss of key ciliary components in inherited ciliopathies. The cover image depicts the aberrant accumulation of vesicles along the photoreceptor cilium that results from inactivation of the bbs4 gene in a mouse model of Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS). Tomography data from authors Jared Gilliam and Juan Chang. Cover design by Matthew Dougherty.
