Possible ways can be used to eradicate CSCs [复制链接]

Currently ,the research about cancer stem cells (CSCs) is a hot spot , while most of which is still in infancy , which means there still remains much needed to be elucidated .anyway , as the development of related research ,during the past decades , some progressed had been made in this new appearing field . now ,most researchers believe , CSCs is the root of tumor recurrence or relapse clinically , not only they are resistant to conventional chemotherapy or radiation ,but also other properties , which can render them to escape the immune attack in the body or the inhibitory effect of anti-cancer drug , therefore , it is urgent to find some way to specifically kill these CSCs in order to completely conquer the cancer . here ,after seeing related literatures ,I propose the following methods which can be used to deplete the CSCs , however ,there is no doubt as the research goes , many new findings would come out ,accordingly , the methods of eliminating CSCS would become more diverse .

3 S: Y; [& O2 \! f! k3 F" F1.        targeting the special signal transduction involved in CSCs
% e! p5 `  M& f' P0 R6 ksuch as Wnt/β-catenin, sonic Hedgehog, Notch , Bmi-1 ,Hox family ,and so on 5 s. a4 U' R- `  R7 [
2.        making use of survival advantage of CSCs 8 o/ a8 d' N/ H" Y7 K2 w  |
such as the ATP-binding cassette of CSCs due to their high expression
- s/ o* T# z; o) P5 h; H8 k3.        targeting the niche of CSCs ) w$ p7 X' m0 ?4 m7 c  O$ X4 W
because CSCs reside in a relative hypoxic environment , the VEGF expression of which would be enhanced , there more some TKI (danatinib) or anti-VEGF antibody (Avastin) , moreover ,the surface Marker of CSCs can also be utilized ,such as CD44 ,CD133 ,ALDH ,nestin and so on . for example ,we can also design anti-CD44 antibody to target the CSCs specifically .2 A# Z) E# c- `" s! 4.        inducing the CSCs to differentiation 5 a( s+ T# e% i8 s- v0 t
the application of ATRA to induce the differentiation of APL is a classical example
4 L0 m9 ^0 ~( O* f6 G5.        high-through screening from the compound library to select the candidate compounds possessing potential activity against CSCs 9 e' i# T  a' p
The finding of salinomycin to specifically eradicate breast cancer stem cell is a better evidence .4 W; L& o) t- |' B6 |
