《Mathematical Biology 》是一本生物数学,主要是微分方程方面的工具书。主要可以查询一些方程模型的生物背景。当然,该书也罗列了几乎所有的技术手段,和研究的方向和这些方向的所有文献中的最新结果。3 N! f$ ?2 V+ H7 \' _. A0 z* R

《 Synthetic Biology  》与传统生物学通过解剖生命体以研究其内在构造的办法不同,合成生物学的研究方向完全是相反的,它是从最基本的要素开始一步步建立零部件。与基因工程把一个物种的基因延续、改变并转移至另一物种的作法不同,合成生物学的目的在于建立人工生物系统(artificial biosystem),让它们像电路一样运行。 % y( o$ A. D! u/ s& Q
